5 Celeb Beauty Lines You Need to Know About
Move over, Kylie Jenner and Rihanna. Although they may be the reigning queens of celebrities-turned-beauty-gurus, they are not the only powerful women to successfully create their own beauty lines. Even though these days it seems that every star has partnered with an established makeup brand to create their personal collections, thereby boosting publicity and sales for both the celebrity and brand, some famous women have even gone as far as creating their own beauty empires. Between KKW Cosmetics, known for a contour kit to replicate Kim Kardashian’s signature look, and Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company, with nontoxic and eco-friendly skincare and makeup products, well-known celebrities have been entering and succeeding in the beauty market for years. Ahead, five lesser-known but just as high-quality celebrity beauty lines, and popular products from each.
Miranda Kerr: KORA Organics
In 2009, Australian Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr launched KORA Organics, her own line of organic skincare products including oils, moisturizers, and cleansers. Since then, the cruelty free, Rose Quartz-energized skincare brand has only grown in popularity, and is now featured in more than 2,500 stores, including Sephora, across 25 countries. Although this skincare line is pricey, most products are certified vegan, so the high quality ingredients are definitely worth the price. One of the most popular products is the Noni Body Oil, which won an Allure Best of Beauty 2017 award. At $58, this 3.38 fl oz oil with Noni Extract, Rosehip, and sunflower seed oils moisturizes the skin with antioxidants and fatty acids.
Kat Von D: Kat Von D Beauty
Famous tattoo artist Kat Von D has amassed a cult following after creating her own makeup line in 2008. Her Studded Kiss creme lipstick, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, and Tattoo Liner have earned her many praises from fans, and have even become some of Sephora's best sellers. Personally, the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw, one of my first pre-Kylie Jenner Lip Kit liquid lipsticks, was the perfect long lasting bright red lipstick my freshman year of high school. As most products are around $25, Kat Von D keeps her vegan and cruelty-free makeup line both high quality and affordable.
Ashley Tisdale: Illuminate
Now that her High School Musical days are over (R.I.P. Sharpay— you’ll always be the greatest Disney character), singer and actress Ashley Tisdale has created her own makeup line, Illuminate, in partnership with BH Cosmetics. Launched in 2016, the collection includes liquid lipsticks, eyeshadow and blush palettes, and lashes. With no products priced higher than $13, these mostly vegan and cruelty-free products are extremely affordable and available to a wide range of consumers. The two most popular products are the Beach Goddess palette, featuring light, nude shades, and The Night Goddess palette, with darker smokier shades.
Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham for Estée Lauder
In 2016, fashion designer, businesswoman, and former Spice Girl queen Victoria Beckham partnered with Estée Lauder to create 14 products for her own limited edition makeup collection. This collection, featuring smoky eyeshadows, nude lip glosses, and even a portable lighted mirror, sold out instantly, inspiring a reboot collection that was released last fall. One of her most popular products was her London Smoky Eye palette. Although it was pricey compared to most other eyeshadow palettes, at $75 for four shades, the burgundy and grey shades were super pigmented and smooth. After Beckham’s success with this makeup collection, in March of this year, she announced that she is currently working on launching a line of skin care products. She stated in a Facebook live video that although the creation of this line is still in its early stages, she is creating creams and a perfume.
Jennifer Lopez: J.Lo x Inglot
On April 26, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez dropped her 70-piece makeup collection in partnership with Inglot Cosmetics.
The collection is extremely diverse, featuring products for lips, eyes, the face, and nails. At prices ranging from $8.50 to $26, with the exception of the $49 build-your-own palette, this collection is extremely affordable, especially compared with other major celebrity makeup lines like KKW Cosmetics. The products receiving the most hype are the build-your-own palette, where you select five blushes, two highlighter trios, and 20 eyeshadows of your choosing, and the Boogie Down Bronzer, a flattering, matte caramel bronzer. With such a wide range of glowing and affordable products, J.Lo is set to become the next Kim K of the beauty industry.
