Grammy Awards Fashion Rundown

The 2019 Grammys were filled with some awkward moments – misspellings, mispronunciations, lip-syncing accusations, and microphone cut-offs. Luckily, the ladies redeemed the night by winning the majority of the show’s biggest categories and flaunting their bold, beautiful looks on the red carpet. Five of the industry’s most popular women at the moment, who all both performed and won awards, especially stunned on the red carpet. From sleek to sparkly to princess-themed, these flawless outfits proved that the biggest stars in music indeed have it all.

Cardi B

The reigning rap queen took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, becoming the first female solo artist to do so, and my award for most uniquely dressed. In an Archival Mugler clamshell dress from the designer’s Fall 1995 Couture show, Cardi gave us serious The Little Mermaid vibes. Including her on-again boo Offset by her side, the rapper’s big Birth of Venus moment was solidified, turning Cardi into the talk of the red carpet.

Lady Gaga

Just like her three new awards, Miss Gaga sparkled in a silver Celine dress on the red carpet. Although not her riskiest Grammys outfit (remember the meat dress?), Lady Gaga succeeded in playing it safe, perfectly in line with her Joanne and A Star is Born personas. The movie and pop star won for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Joanne [Where Do You Think You’re Going?]”), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance ("Shallow," Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper), and Best Song Written For Visual Media ("Shallow," Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper).

Camila Cabello

Pop’s youngest superstar wowed the red carpet in a sparkly pink Armani Privé gown with an open back. Although she did not win the two awards she was nominated for, Best Pop Solo Performance (“Havana [Live])” and Best Pop Vocal Album (Camila), the singer still stole the show by opening the ceremony with a performance of her hit song “Havana.” Dedicated to her grandma who grew up in Cuba, Camila honored her family and culture by inviting her father and sister onstage.

Bebe Rexha

Bebe Rexha, who recently made headlines for stating that designers have told her she is “too big” to dress for awards shows, stunned in a red Monsoori gown on music’s biggest night. Complete with red tulle and a sparkling necklace, the pop singer resembled a princess. Although she did not win, Bebe was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Meant to Be” with Florida Georgia Line.

Miley Cyrus

Between making her great comeback to music and getting married to long-time love Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus has officially become one of the industry’s hottest stars again. The former Disney singer and actress radiated joy in her sleek, minimalist, black Mugler pantsuit. Although she was not nominated for any awards, Miley crushed duets with Dolly Parton and Shawn Mendes.

Ariana Grande

Although Ariana Grande decided last-minute not to attend the Grammys due to a dispute with the producer, who did not allow her to perform “7 rings” at the show, the queen of pop still showcased her custom-made Zac Posen dress on Instagram. In the stunning pictures at the top of her spiral staircase, donned by her dog, Toulouse, and Mac Miller’s former dog, Myron, Ariana could easily be mistaken for Cinderella. Without even attending the ceremony, the singer, who was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for “God Is A Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener, had a big night. After a public and heartbreakingly difficult year, Ariana won the well-deserved award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
