The Kaia Moment
Although she only recently made her runway debut at Calvin Klein last September, Kaia Gerber has undoubtedly become one of the newest it-models. As the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford (she’s literally her mini-me), there’s no surprise she’s already dominated the runways at New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Week. And not only has she walked high fashion runways, but she also currently stars on the cover of February 2018 Vogue Paris and is designing a collection with Karl Lagerfeld. Basically, there’s nothing this girl can’t do. It’s hard to believe Kaia is still just at the beginning of her supermodel career. With accomplishments as incredible as hers so far at only 16 years old, I have no doubt she’s on track to become more iconic than the Hadids.
2017 Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein Collection NYFW Debut
On September 7, 2017 Kaia walked in her first New York Fashion Week show for Calvin Klein. She then continued her whirlwind week by walking for Coach, Alexander Wang, Fenty x Puma by Rihanna, and Marc Jacobs. Vogue released a video of Kaia documenting part of her first fashion week, emphasizing that although she’s been raised to be in the spotlight, she’s still as normal as a 16-year-old supermodel can be. She’s a teenager that laughs and eats room service on her hotel bed with her best friends – even if she’s wearing glitter boots and gloves while doing so.
London Fashion Week
On September 16, 2017 Kaia walked for Burberry at London Fashion Week. Her brother, Presley Gerber, also walked for Burberry. This marked the first time both siblings have walked in the same show – and they did it flawlessly. But honestly, who’s surprised both of Cindy Crawford’s children are taking the modeling industry by storm?
Milan Fashion Week
On September 21, 2017 Kaia began her busy week by walking for Fendi, Prada, and Moschino at Milan Fashion Week. The following day she walked for Bottega Veneta and Versace. Her mom walked with fellow supermodels Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Helena Christensen right after Kaia to pay tribute to Gianni Versace.
Paris Fashion Week
On September 26, 2017 Kaia started her last fashion week for the season by walking for Saint Laurent in Paris. The following days she walked for Chloe, Isabel Marant, Chanel, Miu Miu, Valentino, and Off-White.
Spring 2018 Campaigns
In the past few months, Kaia has dropped the Spring 2018 campaigns she’s starring in, including Versace and Marc Jacobs. She’s also featured in Calvin Klein Jeans’ Spring 2018 campaign with her brother, which truly redefines sibling goals.
Karl Lagerfeld Collection
On January 16, it was announced that Kaia is designing a capsule collection of clothing, shoes, sunglasses, and jewelry with Chanel and Fendi’s creative director. It’s no surprise Kaia is Karl Lagerfeld’s newest muse, as he was close to Cindy Crawford. Women’s Wear Daily reported that the collection will be a “mix of California cool for day and French sophistication for after dark.”
Couture Debut
On January 24, Kaia made her couture runway debut at Chanel and Valentino during Paris’ Couture Fashion Week. Her mom congratulated her on Instagram right after, saying she looked “sweet as a cupcake.”
Solo Vogue Cover
Kaia looks incredible in her first solo Vogue Paris cover, after previously gracing the cover with her mom back in April 2016. With her current momentum and rising stardom, this cover definitely won’t be Kaia’s last.
