WEEKLY ROUNDUP: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Kanye West Is Finally Launching Pastelle
You might remember Kanye’s attempt to launch a clothing line called Pastelle in 2009—or maybe not since it fell through the cracks and was quickly forgotten. However, after months of speculation that Kanye would launch the line for real this time, the official release date has been set for May 14.
Ian Connor, Pastelle’s creative director, has been teasing the comeback of the line on Instagram. Connor’s cryptic posts are the only source of information out there about Pastelle and its return. Keep an eye out for the release of the line this Saturday.
David Beckham To Have His Own Skincare Line
Just days after Victoria Beckham announced her cosmetic partnership with Estee Lauder, her husband announced that he’s also joining the beauty business. David Beckham is teaming up with Biotherm Homme for campaign advertisements and he will help develop a collection of men’s skin care and grooming products.
“I’m excited to be working with Biotherm Homme,” Beckham said in a statement. “I’ve been thinking about developing a skincare range for a long time and it wasn’t until I started speaking with Biotherm that it all came together. They are as ambitious as I am, and we look forward to showing everyone the fruits of our labor very soon.”
The collection of eight to twelve products will retail around $50 each and is set to launch in 2017.
Calvin Klein’s Spring Campaign Is Super Raunchy
Kendall Jenner, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Klara Kristin and more star in Calvin Klein’s Spring 2016 campaign called “Erotica.” The name truly says it all. While Calvin Klein is known for sexy ads, these photographs, shot by Harley Weir, are more suggestive than usual.
The advertisements feature shots of Jenner squeezing a grapefruit and stroking a rosebud, upskirt shots of Kristin, and other provocative photos. The campaign has stirred up quite the buzz on social media—with many people finding the photos offensive. However, this is not the first time CK’s sexy ads have stirred up controversy so this kind of reaction is nothing knew for the brand.
Gucci and Net-A-Porter Teaming Up
Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, is creating a 20-piece capsule collection exclusively for Net-A-Porter. This is not the first time the e-commerce website has teamed up with a high-end brand for such a project, but it is Gucci’s first endeavor into the realm of online-exclusive collaborations. Gucci has become one of Net-A-Porter’s top three best-sellers under Michele, making the collaboration an obvious choice.
The collection hit the website on May 12, with prices ranging from $270 to $5,000. Check out the photos released by Gucci and if you’re interested, make sure to go on Net-A-Porter ASAP because it looks like pieces will sell out fast!
