Letter from the Editors
The past four months have been a time of unprecedented uncertainty and change, an overwhelming experience that none of us were ready for. An experience that feels far from over. However, as this quarter of remote learning comes to a close and Coronavirus feels more and more like a normality than a global pandemic, the members of STITCH take this opportunity to share their quarantine experiences and reflections in this first ever exclusively digital (We think! We aren’t quite sure) issue.
With the abrupt ending of winter quarter due to COVID-19, we went into the spring assuming that STITCH would be put on hold. The print issue we had been working on seemed impossible to complete in the current situation. However, about a month into the quarter this felt like the wrong decision. STITCH is a magazine that acts as a platform for creativity and works to amplify the voices of our students. The At-Home issue is no different.
This quarter, the members of STITCH were able to contribute to the magazine in a way they never had. The At-Home Issue allowed for each member of STITCH to breathe life into this magazine with their raw reflections, designs, and even their faces as models. Online Editor Jude Cramer reflects on changing and unchanging family dynamics while Print Editor Giovana Gelhoren speaks to the experience of quarantining as a couple. Staff Writers Eli Gordon and Lucia Shorr emphasize the reflection of the changing times in their changing style and appearance. The Styling Team displays the importance of adding a pop of color to your Zoom calls while Staff Writer Isabelle Kenagy and the Photography Team take a moment of pause in nature.
As EICs, we could not be prouder of the work our members put in for the At-Home Issue. Everyone on STITCH hustled through this incredibly tough time to create something so beautiful and meaningful. We are so excited for you to view this. We hope the At-Home Issue provides you with a chance to press pause on your own life and delve into the lives of STITCH, offering you a moment of respite and the same sense of positivity and creativity that it offered our team.
