Fresh Faces To Watch For At The 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
The lineup for the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been released and spoiler alert…the models are all fierce, gorgeous, and might give you a little bit of body envy. While long-time Angels Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo will be sitting this show out, fan favorites such as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss and last year’s fantasy bra wearer Lily Aldridge will once again strut down the Victoria’s Secret runway. Of course, we’re all looking forward to watching Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid own the catwalk once again, but here are some fresh models to keep an eye out for in this year’s show:
Maria Borges: The Angolan model is best known for wearing her natural curls at last year’s show. She made headlines for embracing her heritage rather than wearing extensions, inspiring women everywhere. Let’s hope that Borges chooses to don her natural hair once again as she graces the runway for her fourth time.
Liu Wen: Wen is no stranger to the Victoria’s Secret runway, this year will be her fifth show. Originally from China, she is the first model of East Asian descent to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and the first Asian model to ever make Forbes magazine's annual highest-paid models list. Liu has appeared in campaigns for Dolce and Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta and Calvin Klein.
Bella Hadid: While you may know her as Gigi Hadid’s younger sister, Bella is making a name for herself in the modeling world. She was named GQ’s 2016 model of the year, walked in Paris and New York Fashion Week, and has been featured in Vogue, Elle and Glamour. Now, she will be making her debut in this year’s lingerie show.
Jasmine Tookes: Tookes will be wearing the $3-million-dollar fantasy bra as she walks down the runway for the fifth time. Victoria’s Secret recently released untouched pictures of Tookes in the lingerie where her stretch marks are clearly visible. For a brand known for overusing photo shop, this could be a step in the right direction for Victoria’s Secret, and we hope Tookes inspires women everywhere as she embraces her stretch marks on the runway.
Dilone: Dilone may be a newcomer, but she is quickly rising through the ranks of the modeling world. Known for her edgy, tomboy look, she will be rocking her signature short locks as she walks the Victoria’s Secret runway for the first time. Dilone has walked in New York Fashion Week and in Bottega Veneta’s 2016 autumn/winter menswear show. Oh… and if she wasn’t cool enough already, she’s also a rapper.
Taylor Hill: From modeling for Forever21 to appearing in Marie Claire to walking the Victoria’s Secret runway, Hill has done it all. On top of all of her modeling work, Hill is featured in the movie The Neon Demon which was released this year. The youngest Victoria’s Secret Angel will strut the runway for her third time in a row. Here’s to hoping third time’s the charm for this seasoned veteran.
Martha Hunt: If Hunt looks familiar, it’s because she is an official member of Taylor Swift’s girl squad. But when she’s not giving us squad goal envy with Taylor, she is walking in runway shows across the globe and gracing the covers of magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar and GQ. Hunt, who became an official Angel in 2015, will be walking the runway for her fourth time.
Alanna Arrington: At the age of 17, Arrington is one of the youngest models in this year’s lingerie show. Arrington has walked in New York Fashion Week and has been featured in Vogue editorials, all while completing her junior of high school. She went from being a basketball player on her school’s team, to one of the most in-demand models today. We can’t wait to watch this young starlet make her Victoria’s Secret runway debut.
Catch all of these models and more at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, airing on December 5 at 10/9c on CBS.
