It’s time to treat the runway like a runway.

The holiday season can be a time of stress as everyone rushes to the airport to travel home for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years Eve. At Northwestern, students are flocking all over the globe to go home for the holidays. But, while the stuffy airplanes and long TSA lines can make you want to scream, your sanity might be salvaged by cute airport attire. With travel season comes travel outfits, and they can make your journey that much less painful.

Many celebrities have been embracing the opportunity to dress to impress on their airport excursions. They have proven that you don’t have to compromise on comfort in order to travel in style. As more comfortable clothing styles have become trendy in everyday life, such as slides, sweatpants and sneakers, the airport outfit possibilities have expanded exponentially.

However, many young adults, especially students, cannot afford to drop half of the college tuition to look casual-chic rolling up to the airport. So, here are some examples of great celebrity airport looks, along with more affordable dupes to these outfits.

You can never go wrong with basic jeans, a white tee and a holiday-inspired scarf when traveling back home. Gigi Hadid was seen sporting this classic and timeless look in March 2018 at JFK airport. This is the type of outfit that looks and feels put together while requiring minimal effort. It can be easily replicated with any pair of jeans, plain top and blazer, and a similar scarf is sold at Urban Outfitters (and it’s only $19!).

If you like to sleep on planes, this look may be for you. Kendall Jenner was seen in this Heron Preston orange sweatsuit as she strutted through the airport. This is undoubtedly a bolder choice, and can add just the right amount of energy to get you through a long travel day. It’s trendy for this season, as matching sweatsuit sets are all the rage at the moment. If worn tastefully, this colorful airport getup can be a superb choice for this holiday travel season. A similar option to Kendall’s look is sold at ASOS.

Sometimes, all it takes to make an outfit feel more special is a shaggy white coat. Alexa Chung was seen strutting out of the airport in this seemingly simple outfit with a fun twist. She was wearing this statement jacket when she arrived in LAX back in April 2017. The outfit, which features simple jeans, a white graphic tee and an army green jacket tied around the waist, is extremely versatile for any season or climate. Layering is one of the best ways to dress for travel, as it allows you to transition from one location to another if there is a difference in temperature. A similar jacket can be found at Forever 21.
