How to Flex on Your Family During the Holidays: Return of Winter White
The afternoon before Thanksgiving, rapper Travis Scott tweeted: “it makes no since every year we gotta get dress to eat in the living room.”
Reading this tweet almost 24 hours later in my bed—initially recognizing his grammatical mistake which he soon corrected—I felt offended by the essence of this tweet.
Logically, it sometimes doesn’t make sense to dress up when you’re not going anywhere; however, at the same time, when you have the chance to look good—especially in the comfort of your own home—why not partake in the fun? Most importantly, when you are trying to show your best self in front of family or friends that you have not see in approximately six to eight months, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to stand out.
Imagine: you’ve just finished fall quarter and have had multiple identity crises about what you want to do in life. Your family is asking you how school is going thus far...and maybe you want to cry a little inside. Here’s a solution: try to look more than put together.
So, for the holidays, I am advising you to be bold and to flex. But, how should you do this? Most people swear by sequins as an essential for their holiday looks. I love sequins, but I also love standing out in a crowd and not always following the norm. For this holiday season, go out of your comfort zone of your dark, cold wardrobe and try ~winter white~.
Here are five simple outfits—with a splash of winter white—that can serve as an inspiration for looking your best this season.
The Chic Snow Queen
(Also Animal Print Loving) Look
The “I Still Want to Wear Black, But I Guess I’ll Go a Little Bit Out of My Comfort Zone” Look
The “Who Said You Couldn’t Wear a Coat as a Dress?” Look
To be honest, I’m obsessed with this look. Although it may seem like the coat is serving as a dress—surprise—there is a matching skirt that goes with it. Match it with tall white “go-go” boots, and you’ll receive compliments all night.
The “Of Course I Can Wear a Midi Dress with Short White Boots” Look
