Spring 2018: High Fashion Edition
Evanston weather can’t seem to make up its mind, and it has me dreaming of sunny spring days where the temperature doesn’t drop thirty degrees in three hours. What better way to get over some winter blues than to look at upcoming spring fashion trends?!
Trend #1: Punk
Look out for some distressed black denim and frilly black tutus this spring, because punk is back in a big way. This could be incorporated in small ways, like through a smoky black eye or some black combat boots. It may not be a typical spring trend, like pastels and florals, but who doesn’t love some ripped fishnets?
Trend #2: Feathers
Feathers were all over the spring shows, and I have to say I’m interested to see the ways this trend will be incorporated into ready-to-wear fashion off the runways. Watch out for feather trimmed slip dresses, because they’re about to make a major comeback.
Trend #3: Lavender
Although pastels are always in come springtime, this year it seems as if one color will be thrust into the spotlight: lavender. Move over, millennial pink, because your purple cousin is taking the stage. A fun way to try out this trend would be through accessories -- purple pumps or sneakers would be a cool way to brighten up any spring outfit.
Trend #4: Transparency
Although this trend may not seem wearable, if you want to take a risk this spring, throw on a sheer, flowy dress or a clear, rubbery coat because see-through is the new opaque.
