Spring Beauty Forecast

It may only be February, but we’re already dreaming of spring. We’re ready to trade our parkas and boots for candy-colored cardigans and strappy sandals. Thankfully for us, spring isn’t that far away. While we count the days (and obsessively check our weather apps for signs of warm weather), it’s the perfect time to get a head start on upcoming spring trends. We’ve compiled inspiration from Paris, Milan, London and New York fashion weeks to give you a complete forecast of the makeup trends to look out for this spring.

Blue Eye Shadow

Blue eye shadow was a huge trend across the board. Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, Missoni and Chanel all sent shades of blue down the runway. While it isn’t likely that full masks of blue shadow à la Chanel (top left) will be the season’s must-have look, you can expect to see brilliant blues adorning the lids of fashionistas everywhere. Kendall Jenner sported multiple blue-shadowed looks on the runway, so maybe we’ll see her wearing blue shadow on her next date with Harry Styles.

Doll Lashes

Doll lashes were seen on various runways, so you can expect to see a lot of thick, clumped lashes this spring. From long spidery lashes to shorter spikey ones, the variations on the doll lashes were about as diverse as the designers who used them. Many looks focused on the bottom lash line, making it equally as full and long as the top lash line—sometimes longer. The doll lash trend was frequently paired with other trends like blue shadow and red lips.

Red Lips

Red Lips are nothing new to the runway. What is new are the deep shades of oxblood red for spring. Shades this deep are long-time staples for fall and winter, but this year, you can get more use out of your favorite winter lipsticks and incorporate them into your spring makeup routine. Spring is definitely a season that’s all about color so don’t be afraid to experiment with some of your winter colors. You can easily pair your red lips with doll lashes or go for extra-bold color and line your lashes with eyeliner in blue, green or purple.

Bare Skin

Go low maintenance this spring with a “no makeup” look. Use a sheer foundation to even out skin tone while letting any natural beauty marks or freckles peek through. Highlighter can be really useful to give the illusion of healthful, glowing skin. Subtle blush and bronzer in matte shades will finish off your “natural” look and give you the perfect amount of color. Helpful hint: if you want to accentuate your freckles, use an eyebrow pencil or brown pencil liner to draw them on.
