Trend Report: Hot Makeup Looks for Fall
Fall is finally upon us, and with it comes new it-colors for makeup. While deep reds and plums aren’t going anywhere this season, a few surprising colors have made their way into fall’s palette this year. Check out our favorite fall makeup trends and how we love to wear them!
1. Deep Red: Take the classic red lip into fall by switching out your cherry lipstick for a deep wine shade. Our favorite? Urban Decay’s Vice lipstick in Hex. This matte wine color completes any look with rich color payoff.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can wear wine on your lids, too (without venturing into Halloween-costume territory)! Take a cue from Selena Gomez at last year’s American Music Awards. She kept the red eyeshadow application light and focused just on the outer corners of her lids, which kept her look glam, not costumey.
2. Purple: We may not endorse Wildcat-purple outside of tailgates and football games, but you can still show your Northwestern pride with bold purples and plums this fall, without the gimmick. Iman’s Perfect Eyeshadow Pencil in Seduction is the perfect all-over color, while Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Plum offers four different shades of plum for an autumnal smokey eye.

3. Rose Gold: Metallics were all over the runways this spring and summer, and while rosegold might not be the first color that comes to mind when you think “fall,” it’s the perfect way to make the metallic-trend wearable in chillier weather. Deep rose gold - not quite brown, not quite bronze, not quite pink - flatters any skin tone and looks amazing on lips, lids, and cheeks.

4. Black: Like red eyeshadow, black lipstick can easily venture into Halloween territory. But wear it with a neutral eye and plenty of highlighter and you’ll be rocking the Gothic-Victorian look that dominated the Fall/Winter runways.
5. Orange: Fall is the perfect time to take makeup inspiration from the weather around you. Incorporate the colors of leaves, pumpkins, and early sunsets into your makeup routine with shades of burnt orange. A deep orange eyeshadow is the perfect way to blend out your smokey eye. You can even keep coral lipstick in your weekly rotation if you stick to a darker, more terracotta shade of orange.
