Chanel Shows Cruise Collection In Cuba

On Tuesday night, Chanel presented their 2017 cruise collection in Havana, Cuba. At the historic Paseo del Prado, the runway show was filled with pieces that were clearly influenced by Cuba—some of the models were even smoking cigars.

According to WWD, the Cuban government didn’t give Chanel permission to stage the show there until March. The Chanel show was another stepping-stone towards greater international relations with Cuba.

Alber Elbaz Opened Up About Leaving Lanvin

Alber Elbaz, the former creative director at Lanvin, gave a speech at Parsons on Tuesday night covering many topics, most importantly his departure from Lanvin. According to the Cut, (http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/05/alber-elbaz-talks-about-lanvin-firing-parsons.html) Elbaz handed out hershey kisses and tissues out to the crowd, to help them cope with the tears that might flow when talking about his “tragedy”—aka being fired from his role at Lanvin. This event was the first time Elbaz openly spoke about his departure.

When describing what it was like to leave Lanvin he said, “Since I left I can’t sketch anymore. I still have a huge scar on me...but there is something quite fabulous about being free.” He gushed about the Met’s Manus x Machina exhibition, calling it one of his favorite ever. He also spoke about the difficult schedules designers have and how many changes are happening in the world of fashion.

FKA Twigs Is Releasing Her Own Fragrance

FKA Twigs is reportedly teaming up with perfumer House of Matriarch to make her own scent. She’s working with the brand’s co-founder, Christi Meshell, who created a custom perfume for her a few years ago.

When the perfume is released later this year, it will be sold exclusively on Twigs’ web-site. Fans are going to have purchase the perfume without smelling it first—a bold move, which is not uncommon for Twigs.
