Being Prada Your Own Style Is In For S/S 2025

Embracing your individuality is the latest fashion trend, all thanks to Prada’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection for Milan Fashion Week that launched Thursday afternoon.

When it comes to a Prada show, you truly don’t know what you are walking into. It will always be something new and innovative, with rare repeats, and the public is always eager to see what will be deemed the brand’s “hot” item for the season.

Designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, this collection is for the “weird girls” who could care less about anyone's opinion about how they dress and will do whatever they feel like doing.

Held inside the Desposito at Fondazione Prada, the designers wanted to showcase that the brand is more than what the algorithm will push onto the masses, but that owning your style is always paramount.

At first sight, the opening model’s outfit, a floral-printed dress with black and white polka-dot Mary Janes, seemed normal-looking. Yet, on the dress, one shoulder strap was on the model’s shoulder and the other one was off the shoulder.

Right after, a model with a stern facial expression walks down the grayish-blue runway sporting a metal-ring black dress, a buttery black leather bucket bag with metal hardware and flapped white flats.

The looks that followed suit clashed colors, textures, silhouettes and aesthetics, honing in on the message of originality within the way we dress.

Even though clashing is often looked down on, it can be chic. I mean, who would wear a pair of bug-eyed shaped sunglasses, a butter yellow silk jumpsuit and pointed green shoes? Or an untucked pink button-up shirt, navy blue dress pants, an off-centered brown belt and black shoes? The Prada girl, of course.

The use of the uniform look is not foreign to the designer duo, but this time around nothing is holding them back from transforming a house favorite.

A tight-fitting red top with an outline of a blue collar, royal purple bottoms, a metallic silver skirt with holes, a baby pink handbag with gold hardware and pointed black flats take a traditionally boring and professional outfit and transform it into an incredible clash of self-expression.

Every single look that walked down the runway was something to take in and appreciate, especially when many want to divert from experimenting with pieces that are deemed “not trendy enough.”

Belts, skin and impractical yet glamorous eyewear were seen throughout a majority of looks. The use of these elements added an interesting layer of chaos that can be fashionable, no matter how you style it.

As well, some archival shoes made their return to the catwalk during the presentation, such as the leather sandals from S/S 1996 and Oxford platforms from S/S 2011.

A black ruffled dress paired with a brown bucket hat with holes, an orange windbreaker, gray stockings and pointed black silk pumps was an outfit I thought I would never see in my life. But, here we are and I am obsessed with it.

This collection is what the fashion industry has been praying for. Uniqueness and something different to embrace the average consumer's sense of style is crucial to this collection and out of all brands showcasing during Milan, no one can do it like Prada.
