Movers and Shakers: Rachel, STITCH Print Editor
Meet Rachel, Northwestern junior and STITCH Print Editor. She is currently studying abroad in London.
What’s your personal style?
My personal style revolves around simple, neutral basics mixed with a trend-driven, statement piece. To get some outside perspective, I asked my friend how she would describe my style and she said, “Dark, leathery and sweatery.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Why’d you join STITCH?
I joined STITCH to find a group of people who shared some of my biggest passions, like fashion and writing, and who I could learn from and be inspired by. And where else could I find so many people who are always down to talk about Raf’s genius and the latest Fenty collection?
How else do you contribute to the NU community?
Besides STITCH, I wanted to find another tight-knit community within the larger NU sphere where I would not only be surrounded by people similar to me, but also people with varying perspectives and interests. So, I joined a sorority to find an eclectic family away from home and then I got involved in its chapter council.
How has London influenced your style?
The weather in London is even more unpredictable than in Evanston—switching from warm and sunny to cold and rainy within the blink of an eye (and then back to rainy at least two more times each day). It didn’t take me too long to realize that the key to British style is layering. Now my outfits always consist of neutral basic layered under neutral basic, under yet another neutral basic.
