On March 6, 2022, Valentino released their Pink PP F/W 22-23 collection, and “barbiecore” began to dominate runways from top designers to emerging brands across the world.

His label has exploded in popularity in recent years because of his collaborations with brands such as Birkenstock, Moncler and Champion. But now, much of his recent pop culture status can be attributed to big-name rappers such as A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, Kanye West and Playboi Carti name-dropping Owens in their songs or wearing his clothes. This increased popularity for a high fashion brand that pushes the borders of streetwear has brought many self-proclaimed fashion experts into the limelight, many of whom thrive on TikTok — but their “expertise” is questionable, to say the least.
